| The report "SME in Focus 2025" highlights the current challenges of the SME sector, but also clearly shows its strengths and resilience factors. In a European comparison, Austria's SMEs are characterized, among other things, by a high degree of innovation, environmental sustainability and internationalization. In 2024, the 604,100 SMEs employed around 2.5 million people, which corresponds to around two thirds of all employees. They were also responsible for training around six out of ten apprentices. SMEs also made a significant contribution to economic output with gross value added of 169 billion euros, or 56% of market-oriented value added. |
